Bosques de niebla hasta los páramos del flanco noroccidental en la sierra Nevada de Santa Marta con registros en los departamentos de Cesar (Stuart et al. 2008), Guajira (Lynch & Ruiz, 1985) Magdalena (Ruthven, 1917;Ruthven, 1922; Cochran & Goin, 1970; Lynch & Ruiz, 1985;Ruiz et al. 1996;Acosta, 2000;Stuart et al. 2008) entre los 1100-2727 metros sobre el nivel del mar.
